The Debrunner Acifer Trophy 2022: farmer Matthias Baumann is the best Swiss professional champion

These were the biggest SwissSkills in history: 150 professions, 85 professional championships and 1,000 young professionals competing for the title of best Swiss professional champion. Gold went to Matthias Baumann, a farmer from Madiswil BE. This earned him the Debrunner Acifer Trophy 2022: a Ford Puma.

After 2014 and 2018, 2022 was the third time that the “SwissSkills” professional championships were held centrally in Bern. From 7 to 11 September, visitors to the grounds of BERNEXPO were able to discover 150 professions, experience 85 professional championships and watch the 1,000 best apprentices in Switzerland carrying out their professions live.

This made SwissSkills 2022 the biggest in history. At the same time, the event represented the basis for qualification for EuroSkills 2023 and WorldSkills 2024.

A car for the Swiss professional champion

Matthias Baumann from Madiswil BE won the gold medal and with it the title of best Swiss professional champion 2022. The young farmer achieved the highest score at SwissSkills, earning himself the Debrunner Acifer Trophy: he now gets to drive a Ford Puma with a hybrid engine free of charge for a year. Debrunner Acifer has been awarding the trophy since 2005. At the SwissSkills victory ceremony, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin personally congratulated all 279 medal winners.
